Description

Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti, nicknamed Abami Eda, is celebrated as the founder of Afrobeat, a Nigerian music genre that fuses Nigerian traditional beat with funk and jazz. A political activist and pan-Africanist of his time, Fela served as the mouthpiece for the downtrodden and marginalized. His brand of music served as an inspiration for a whole generation of Nigerian music artists who have redefined this music genre, making it a major entertainment export to the world.
